I just met him a few times, when inspecting the boat together and when taking over his extremely well kept treasure S/Y Niro-Pe III. Gerd truly loved and cared his boat and I promised him to keep up the good work. For me, a man can never own a beloved boat, just take care of it for a couple of years, treat it well and let it go further as your legacy to next generations. If you take good care of your boat on land at winter she will take well care of you at sea in the summer.
When I, together with Rolf and Rickard sailed out of Flensburg in the afternoon the first of may 2013, heading for Stockholm, three Schweinswale followed and guided us for an hour!! For me as an old, sometimes superstitious, captain it was the ultimate proof that the boat was blessed for the oceans, absolute shipshape and we were in good hands.
